OHS First Grade Weekly News

Due to predictions of rainy weather tomorrow, our Silver Springs trip has been moved to FRIDAY, MARCH 26!   

First Grade will be starring in a musical on March 25th at 6:30 pm. Information about your child's part and costume requirement has been sent home.  Please let us know as soon as possible if your child will be unable to participate in this performance! Smile

We just started our fourth quarter! We can't believe how fast this year is going by!

Silver Springs Information:

  • Our Silver Springs field trip has been moved from March 11th to March 26th!
  • An agenda and permission slip both went home in last week's Wednesday folder.
  • Please return the persmission slip and trip fees as soon as possible. Thank you! Smile
  • Please let your child's teacher know as soon as possible if you plan to chaperone. We appreciate it!
  • If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask us!

User name is oakhall.  Ask your child the password.  We sent it home in the Wednesday folder on 2/3/10. 

Notes from the the Teachers:

  • We just started our fourth quarter! Don't forget that your child needs to get 6 AR points this quarter!  
  • Our class pictures will be taken on March 16th. An order form was included in last week's Wednesday folder. If you choose to order a copy of the picture, please return the form to your child's classroom teacher.  
  • If your child will be unable to participate in our musical program on March 25, please let us know as soon as possible! Smile
  • We will need parent drivers for our March 19th field trip to Dr. Montini's office. If you are able to drive, please let Ms. Datar or Ms. Connelly know. 
  • Don't forget your library books on Tuesdays! Smile

kids hands up    Classroom Happenings...

READING:  We continue to focus on comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and phonics. 
     * AR Points for 4th Qtr:  6

MATH:  We are learning about Numbers to 40.  Practice math facts each night for 10 minutes. 

LANGUAGE ARTS:  Topics are prepositions and objects of the prepositions.  We sing our jingles, and practice our sentence question and answer flow.  We work on writing sentences correctly, using capitals and end marks. We have started working on singular and plural nouns.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  This month we are focusing on geography, St. Patrick's Day and Women's History Month.

SCIENCE:  We are studying mammals.

WRITING:  Paragraph writing using graphic organizers and the writing process.

 

Uniform Reminders:

-LABEL your child's sweaters with a Sharpie!

-No fingernail polish! 

-Belts must be worn with looped pants!

-Ankles must be covered!  No low-cut anklets.
